Le Brevent, Chamonix
Your hike begins high above Chamonix at the top station of Le Brevent—so you skip the toughest climb and go straight to the views. Getting there is part of the experience: first, a scenic gondola ride takes you up to Planpraz, then a cable car lifts you even higher to the summit, where breathtaking panoramas open up all around you.
From the top, an easy-to-follow trail leads down toward the beautiful Lac du Brevent. The path is a bit steep in places, but manageable if you go at your own pace. Along the way, you’re treated to incredible views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks, making every step worth it.
At the lake, you can take a well-earned break, enjoy the peaceful setting, and soak in the mountain scenery. Afterward, head back up the same trail to Le Brévent, then continue walking downhill toward Planpraz. The path winds down the mountainside, with a mix of gravel, dirt, and a few rocky or snowy sections—nothing too technical, just take it slow.
Once you reach Planpraz, hop back on the gondola down to Chamonix. It’s a simple, rewarding hike with unforgettable views almost the entire way—perfect for beginners who want a true alpine experience without a long, demanding climb. This trail is particularly popular, so be prepared for more company on your hike during peak season.
You start your adventure at Télécabine de Plan Praz in Chamonix Mont Blanc.
