A scenic and family-friendly alpine hike not far from the ski resorts of Praz de Lys – Sommand. Starting from the convenient parking area at Col de la Ramaz, the hike to Lac de Roy is a gentle, well-marked route that’s perfect for families, casual walkers, and beginners alike.
The wide trail meanders through open alpine meadows and rolling pastures, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks throughout the journey.
As you get closer to the lake, you see Pointe du Marcelly—a tall, rocky peak standing high above the calm water. The path remains easygoing for most of the way, though the return includes a short but steeper section, gaining about 100 meters in elevation.
This hike offers a gentle challenge that’s suitable for families and everyday walkers.
