It is a very nice hike in Avoriaz for the beginners and families with the children. This trail is a great option for those looking to avoid the summer crowds. Just follow a wide ski trail. The charming village of Avoriaz remains in view, a constant presence in the distance. This sight provides a comforting sense of security and orientation, knowing exactly where you are and where you're headed. Your hike begins in Avoriaz, near the Lac d'Avoriaz. Take the left turn and continue along the trail.
You'll soon pass a small "lake" on your right. After another 500 meters or so, a right turn will lead you up the final ascent to Pas de Chavanette (2147 m) The climb gets steeper here, but the reward is more than worth the effort.
Upon reaching Pas de Chavanette, you'll be standing proudly on the French-Swiss border. Take in the breathtaking panoramas of the Dents du Midi and the majestic Swiss peaks that unfold before you.
For your return journey, simply retrace your steps downhill and after ca 40 min turn left and continue towards Avoriaz, passing the Crêperie de Chavanette on right side.
Variant:
After passing Crêperie de Chavanette (ca 500m), instead of going downhill, you can take a left fork uphill for a detour towards Avoriaz. This path adds about 30 minutes to your hike.
