Flegere to Planpraz (Grand Balcon Sud), Chamonix

A classic Chamonix hike and very popular. Hiking at a higher altitude with fantastic views the entire way. You start at Station La Flégère. Get up from here by gondola lift to ATW - Téléphérique Flégère (the upper station). From there, head west toward Mont Blanc and follow the signs toward Planpraz. You walk the first part of the tour on a shelf along a ravine through groves of trees; for a short distance, the path goes over a steep staircase with handrails. Then you walk across boulder fields. In Planpraz take a gondola lift back to Chamonix, Téléphérique du Brévent and take a bus line 1 (Mummery bus stop ca 800 m) to get back to Station La Flégère or simply walk ca 3 km there.

Be aware that in high season, there are many people on the trail.
